John's Second Letter
The elder, to the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in truth--and not I only, but also everyone who knows the truth, because of the truth that remains in us, and that will be with us forever. Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus the Messiah, the Father's Son, in truth and love.
I rejoiced greatly when I found out that your children are walking in truth, just like we received the command from the Father. And now I ask you, lady, not as though I am writing a new command to you, but the one that we have had from the beginning, that we love one another. And this is that love, that we walk according to his commands. This is the command, just like you heard from the beginning, that we walk in it.
You see, many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not acknowledge that Jesus the Messiah came in bodily form. This is the deceiver and the enemy of the Messiah. Watch yourselves, so that you do not lose what we worked for, but rather that you may receive the full reward!
Everyone who goes too far and does not remain in the teaching about the Messiah does not have God. Whoever remains in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not greet him. Whoever greets him shares in his evil work.
I had many things to write to you, and I did not want to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you and speak face to face, that our joy may be complete.
The children of you chosen sister greet you.
